Clancy Louise's Birth Story

August 5, 2016 we welcomed Clancy Louise at 12:30 pm weighing 9 lbs 5 oz and 21 ins long. It was a day full of joy for Cameron and I as we completed our family along with Pecos Jane and Taos Ray. We are such blessed parents of three healthy beautiful children.

Thursday afternoon I went in for my 40 week appointment for a sonogram and regular appointment with full intentions of waiting our baby girl out for her arrival. At the end  of the sonogram the tech told us that baby would be weighting right at 9 pounds, but there was always room for error. With this in my mind I started getting s little nervous about delivery. If the weightguesstimation was correct she would be my largest baby yet. This made me very nervous as you always hear horror stories of big babies getting hung. We went in for the appointment with Dr. Bannon and I was still dilated to a three....same as the week before. Before I spoke to him about my concerns about a 9 pound baby he did a sweep. When I showed him the specs from the sonogram he told me we could induce if it made me feel more comfortable. I agreed and he went to call the hospital to make my appointment for induction. A few minutes later he came back in and said how does 8 tomorrow sound?! A rush of excitement took over me as I nodded my head in agreement. I was finally going to get meet my baby girl!! I have never gone over was only three days but man were they long?!

That evening we made calls to all our families and friends to tell them Clancy was to be evicted the next morning. I began to have contraction shortly afterwards. This was nothing new for me with this pregnancy. I had dealt with Braxton Hicks since the beginning of June daily. But when I started to actually feel pain I began to time them. They were getting to be 10 minutes apart. About midnight after my inlaws had arrived I decided to try to get some sleep. I stayed on the couch where I watched many episodes of Pioneer the only thing I watch. I woke at 2 in severe pain from contractions and stayed awake timing them till 6. They were still around 10 minutes apart. I ate a small breakfast got ready and we headed to the hospital.

When we arrived we got all checked in and the nurse went to check me. I was at a 5, then it was time to wait for Dr. Bannon to come by. He was there in about 10 minutes and he checked me and I was a 6. They got my iv started and the pitocin going. It wasn't much time at all and the contractions were 1-2 minutes apart and bringing the heat. My mom and Cameron kept me wonderful company and kept my spirits high as a muddled through those tough contractions. About 10:45 I chimed got my epidural. I figured I might want to get that going so it had time to set in before delivery. I go pretty quickly. After they got the epidural done I had issues with it kicking in on my left side. So we moved me to my side to try to get it to numb. We had push the button three times but we finally got it going around 11:30. They checked me and I was still at a 6. The kiddos showed up shortly after. It was so great to see their faces before they were welcoming their new baby sister. Pecos was sitting in the bed with me and right around 12 my water broke. I have never felt this before in my life!! I have to say it was one of the neatest feelings. I know that probably sounds strange, but being our last baby I really wanted to know what it felt like. My whole family rushed out looking for Cameron as he was taking Taos to the candy machine to take his mind off of Mama in the scary hospital bed. She checked me and I had gone to a 10!! It was go time and they were rushing around getting ready for the grand finale! Cameron came rushing in with a worried look on his face that I later learned was due to our neighbor's baby getting hung at the shoulder during delivery. He said the hallways were complete chaos as they were scrambling to help in that delivery room. Thankfully Dr. Bannon first thing requested two nurses in the room just in case. He is such a wonderful doctor who listens to me and always stays calm.

It came time to push and 8 minutes later we heard the cry of our Clancy Louise. Tears filled my eyes as I saw her for the very first time. All those leg cramps, heart burn, and pregnancy faded away quickly.

When the grandmas brought Pecos and Taos in the sweetness really began! Taos begged to hold baby sissy. He was so proud and he sat there with the biggest smile on his face. Then Pecos started singing the sweetest lullabies she made up. She had been practicing these for the last couple weeks. Oh everyone giggled and teared up at all love in the room.

My sweet friend Kathryn Hager from Littlr H Creative stopped by to take a few pictures of our newest arrival. These pictures seriously leave me speechless. These are sweet memories that I'm so happy that I can look back any time I want to.
